Adolf Eichmann Sentenced to Death 63 Years Ago: The UN's Betrayal of Jewish Victims, Then and Now
Never Again? The UN’s Role in Jewish Suffering and Genocide Since the Start
On December 15, 1961, Adolf Eichmann, one of the architects of the Holocaust, was sentenced to death by an Israeli court. Found guilty three days earlier of crimes against humanity, crimes against the Jewish people, and membership in the Nazi machine, Eichmann's trial was a pivotal moment. It wasn’t just about bringing one man to justice—it was about the Jewish people standing up when the world failed them.
And fail them it did. The UN, born out of the ashes of World War II, condemned Israel—not Eichmann—when Mossad agents captured him in Argentina in 1960. The same UN that had vowed “never again” chose to focus on Israeli “sovereignty violations” while ignoring the unspeakable crimes of a man who orchestrated the murder of six million Jews.

Fast forward to today, and the same institution continues to betray the Jewish people.
January 27: A Day of Remembrance Turned to Shame
January 27, 2024, marked International Holocaust Remembrance Day, a date meant to honor the victims of Nazi genocide. But this year, the day was stained by horrifying revelations: employees of UNRWA (the UN Relief and Works Agency) had actively participated in Hamas's October 7 massacre, where over 1,200 Israelis were slaughtered in the worst attack on Jews since the Holocaust and over 250 taken hostage.
“How symbolic is it that on International Holocaust Remembrance Day it was exposed that UNRWA employees took part in the massacre? The UN is not only weaponized to delegitimize our existence, but also to physically exterminate us.” - Gilad Erdan told the UN General Assembly
Rather than denounce this atrocity, the UN chose silence. Its social media posts on Holocaust Remembrance Day failed to even mention the Jewish people. A day that should have been dedicated to confronting the horrors of antisemitism instead revealed the UN’s complicity in its modern resurgence.
How can an organization built on the promise of preventing another Holocaust ignore the very genocide it enables?

The UN’s Long History of Betrayal
From its inception, the UN has been more concerned with condemning Israel than protecting Jews. While Holocaust survivors rebuilt their lives in Israel, the UN turned its back on them, passing resolution after resolution targeting the Jewish state.
In 1961, Israel had to capture Eichmann on its own because no international body cared to deliver justice for his crimes. Today, the situation is even worse: not only does the UN ignore attacks on Jews, but it actively funds and employs individuals who support and commit these atrocities.
UNRWA, a UN body ostensibly dedicated to “aiding” Palestinian refugees, has been a political tool and now exposed as a haven for Hamas and terrorism. Its schools teach children to hate Jews, its facilities are used to store weapons, and now we know its employees participated in the October 7 massacre. This isn’t negligence—it’s complicity.
Silence as a Weapon
By failing to condemn these acts, the UN sends a clear message: Jewish lives are expendable. This silence is not new. For decades, the UN has ignored acts of terrorism against Jews while amplifying any accusation against Israel. From its obsessive focus on “Palestinian rights” to its refusal to hold Hamas accountable, the UN has become an enabler of modern antisemitism and participants in genocide.
On October 7, Jews were massacred in their homes, children were burned alive, and families were torn apart. Instead of standing with the victims, the UN doubled down on its obsession with blaming Israel. This isn’t just bias—it’s a moral failure of the highest order.
History Repeats
In 1961, Israel stood alone to bring Eichmann to justice because the world refused to act. Today, it faces the same isolation as it fights against modern-day genocidal threats. The UN, which should be a beacon of justice, has become a tool for those who seek to destroy the Jewish people.
