A United Nations of Hypocrisy, A Dangerous Distraction from Global Atrocities
The UN’s Singular Obsession: A Grim Tally of Resolutions
I’ll admit it: I’ve always wanted to believe in the United Nations. The idea of an organization devoted to peace, justice, and fairness. Who wouldn’t want that? But after what I’ve witnessed over the past decades, it’s impossible to ignore reality.
Time and again, the UN has shown an alarming willingness to ignore global crises in favor of singling out Israel. Even worse, it has been complicit in criminal activities worldwide since its inception. Nowhere is this more evident than in regions where UNRWA operates, where terrorists have been employed as teachers, school principals, and "humanitarians" for decades. The international community has had ample warnings about these abuses, but the UN’s actions—or lack thereof—make one thing clear: it isn’t interested in accountability, but rather in diplomatic terrorism at the UN and sponsoring terrorism on the ground.
Since October 7, 2023, when over 1,200 Israelis were brutally murdered in the deadliest terrorist attack in modern history, the UN has done everything except the one thing it should have: condemn Hamas. In just three months of 2023, the UN managed to pass 15 resolutions condemning Israel. One of those came only 20 days after the massacre, on November 27, 2023. Let that sink in—not even a month had passed since Jewish families were slaughtered and hostages taken, and the UN’s response was to demand a “truce,” deny Israel the right of self-defense, and leave Hamas out of the discussion entirely while keeping 253 hostages from dozens of nations.
Exactly one year ago tomorrow, on December 12, 2023, the General Assembly did it again. Another resolution called for a ceasefire but made no mention of Hamas’s atrocities or the hostages languishing in Gaza. I remember reading that resolution and seeing the debate and votes and feeling sick. How could an organization that claims to stand for justice so blatantly ignore the facts? The silence on Hamas wasn’t an oversight; it was deliberate, they voted both in November and December against the inclusion of Hamas and the massacre it perpetuated.
Fast forward to 2024, and the story hasn’t changed. By the end of this year, the UN is expected to pass 18 resolutions condemning Israel, with 16 already approved. And for the rest of the world? Just 6 resolutions. Six. Think about everything happening globally—wars in Ukraine and Sudan, persecution in Myanmar and China, the collapse of Syria—and then consider that the UN still spends the majority of its time targeting Israel.

It’s not just frustrating; it’s infuriating. In 2023, the imbalance was just as bad. Out of all the UNGA resolutions that year, only 7 addressed other global crises. Seven. How is that even remotely justifiable? How does the UN rationalize this relentless obsession with one small country while ignoring so many others?
The Hamas Question: A Deafening Silence
And then there’s Hamas. On November 27, 2023, and again on December 12, 2023, the General Assembly explicitly refused to include Hamas in its resolutions. Why? Why couldn’t the UN bring itself to name the group responsible for massacring civilians, abducting hostages, and committing unspeakable acts of terror?
It’s not just an omission—it’s a betrayal. A betrayal of the UN’s principles, a betrayal of the victims, and a betrayal of basic humanity. I keep asking myself: What will it take for the UN to condemn Hamas? What drives this refusal to acknowledge the obvious? Is it political gamesmanship? Cowardice? Or something deeper and more insidious?
The attack on October 7 was not just another violent episode in the Middle East. It was genocide. Over 1,200 Israelis murdered. Thousands more injured. Families torn apart. And yet, 14 months later, the UN still hasn’t found the moral clarity to call Hamas what it is: a terrorist organization.
Let’s be honest: this isn’t new. The UN has been singling out Israel for years, but what we’re seeing now feels different. It’s not just disproportionate—it’s obsessive, it’s criminal. The sheer number of resolutions against Israel compared to those addressing real atrocities elsewhere undermines the UN’s credibility. When the organization refuses to condemn Hamas, it sends a chilling message: terrorism is tolerable when it’s directed at Israel.
It’s not just about bias—it’s about actively protecting a terrorist organization. Today, December 11, 2024, Danny Danon called out the international community, saying they can no longer claim ignorance. Decades of warnings about Hamas’s true nature have been ignored. The UN’s obsession isn’t just harming Israel—it’s enabling Hamas to continue its reign of terror. In regions where UNRWA operates, the evidence is staggering: terrorists have been embedded in schools and humanitarian roles, indoctrinating the next generation under the guise of education and aid. What does it say about the UN that it seems more focused on shielding a terrorist group than standing up for its victims?
Despite the ongoing collapse of the Syrian government, it is deeply troubling that Syria was still able to cast a vote at the United Nations today. This raises a critical question: are they voting on behalf of Bashar al-Assad, who is no longer in control of the country, or are they voting on behalf of Abu Mohammad al-Joulani, the leader of Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), an internationally recognized terrorist organization?
Where Is the Accountability?
So, here we are. Fourteen months after October 7, the UN still hasn’t condemned Hamas. And I’m left wondering: Why? Why can’t the UN do the bare minimum and call out the largest terrorist attack in modern history? Why is it so willing to turn a blind eye to Jewish suffering?
The UN’s obsession with Israel doesn’t just distort its priorities; it enables violence. It emboldens those who see terrorism as a legitimate tool. It tells victims that their lives don’t matter. And it makes a mockery of the very principles the UN claims to uphold.
