UN Donates $55 Million Oil Tanker to Houthis, Pays $450,000 a Month to Keep It Operational
The United Nations doesn’t just enable terror — it funds it, fuels it, and protects it.
We are told the United Nations exists to promote peace, protect civilians, and prevent humanitarian catastrophes. Yet, in the Red Sea, that very institution is paying nearly half a million dollars a month to maintain a floating oil depot for the Houthis, the same Iranian proxy firing ballistic missiles at Israel, hijacking international ships, and holding UN staff hostage.
While the Iran-backed Houthis hijack ships, fire ballistic missiles at Israel, and hold UN workers hostage, the UN is wiring them $450,000 a month — not by accident, but by design.
Let’s stop pretending this is some diplomatic blunder or bureaucratic oversight. This is deliberate complicity.
According to Lloyd’s List, the UN bought the Houthis a $55 million oil tanker. That’s not an exaggeration. That’s a direct quote from the shipping industry’s most trusted source. The tanker — renamed Yemen — was meant to avert an environmental disaster by offloading oil from the decrepit FSO Safer, a rusting oil bomb the Houthis hijacked years ago.
But that disaster was “averted” a year ago. The transfer is complete. So why is the UN still paying half a million dollars every month to maintain a floating fuel hub in waters crawling with Iranian proxy terrorists?
Because the United Nations has made itself a strategic partner in the Houthi war machine.
This ship — funded by Western taxpayers through the UN Development Programme — has become a sanctions-busting oil depot for Russian crude. The Houthis, who are sanctioned for terrorism, arms trafficking, and attacking civilian shipping, are using a UN-paid vessel to store and now distribute Russian oil, in defiance of every supposed Western sanction regime.
And this isn’t new. These deals have been happening for two years, under the UN’s nose — or rather, with its full knowledge.
Earlier this month, the Houthis began drawing oil directly from the tanker, transferring it to the Sea Star 1 and unloading it at the Houthi-controlled port of Ras Isa. And what was the UN’s response?
A “sharp condemnation.” That’s it.
No withdrawal of funds. No sanctions. No seizure.
They issue condemnations against Israel while the missiles kept flying towards it.
Meanwhile, that same terrorist group has been holding over a dozen UN employees hostage for more than a year. Men and women from UNHCR, UNESCO, and WFP — humanitarian workers — abducted, interrogated, silenced.
Where is António Guterres?
Where are the emergency sessions?
Where is the outrage from Western diplomats who fund this theater of neutrality?
The truth is: there is none. Because the UN has decided that funding jihadists is their true mission.
The UN didn’t just stumble into this arrangement. It negotiated with the Houthis. It created a joint company with them to own the tanker. It deliberately legitimized an Islamic Republic of Iran terrorist proxy that openly pledges allegiance to Iran’s Supreme Leader and chants “Death to America, Death to Israel.”
This wasn’t humanitarian work. It was an energy subsidy for a terrorist regime.
VLCC Yemen was acquired by the UN for $55m to facilitate removal of oil from the ageing and decaying FSO Safer to prevent an environmental disaster
The removal was just one part of the operation and was completed in August 2023, but the VLCC has since been recorded in STS transfers taking on Russian petroleum products
The UN, which has transferred ownership of the vessel to Yemen’s Sepoc, but is paying $450,000 per month to keep it crewed and operating, says it has protested the transfers of cargo to and from the supertanker and has no knowledge of origin or destinations of the cargoes
In early June 2025, the first cargo appeared to have been withdrawn from VLCC Yemen and lightered to Ras Isa
Even now, as Israel strikes Houthi ports, radar systems, and fuel convoys, the UN refuses to pull the plug. Because to do so would be to admit what everyone already sees:
The United Nations is not a neutral actor.
It is an operational partner of global jihad.
This is not an institution of peace. It is a diplomatic cartel that launders the reputations of terrorists while billing the West for the privilege.
You think that’s too harsh?
Tell it to the UN staff still rotting in Houthi captivity.
Tell it to the seafarers kidnapped by Houthi pirates.
Tell it to the Israeli civilians targeted by missiles that were likely fueled with Russian oil stored in a UN-maintained ship.
What’s happening in the Red Sea is not just a war. It’s a grotesque UN-sponsored insurgency, paid for by Western donors and protected by an international bureaucracy more afraid of offending jihadists than stopping them.
When the Houthis scream “Death to America,” the UN fuels their ship.
When they kidnap UN workers, the UN pays their salaries.
When they fire on Israel, the UN turns off its cameras.
This is what moral bankruptcy looks like in global governance.
Stop calling it humanitarianism.
Start calling it what it is: terror finance with a blue flag.
Business as usual in the Middle East-- UN takes the League of Nations turn when they decided to support Fascists.
🤬🤬🤬 disgraceful!! They are murderers.
